I Bought All of the Things (Beauty Haul)

Well, everyone, it happened again.  I went a little cray recently while I was out shopping.  Oh, let’s be honest, I always go a little nuts for beauty products when I’m shopping.  I’ve had about two weeks to play with these products so I’ll be able to give you a little review.  Enough blabbering, on with the stuff!

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Eyeshadow Palette- Tarte has a new collection, Rainforest of the Sea, which has several new products.  I immediately gravitated towards this product.  I was so impressed with the last palette I bought from Tarte and I knew the quality would be the same high caliber.  These shades are buttery soft and apply beautifully.  I love that even the dark shades have a warm undertone to them, giving the palette a spring/summer vibe.  I’m not sure how long this palette will be out, so if you’re in the market for new eyeshadows go pick one up!

NYX Micro Brow Pencil (Chocolate)- I picked this up because I’ve been hearing some buzz in the beauty community that this is a dupe for the Anastasia Brow Whiz.  So far, I think this product could go toe-to-toe with the brow whiz.  The pencil is so teeny tiny which gives you so much control over exactly where the product is going.  Sometimes when pencils are too big, I feel like I lose some precision during application.  The formula is great.  It has a similar dry, waxy texture to the brow whiz with great pigmentation.  Whether you’re just getting used to doing your brows or a brow connoisseur, this product is worth a try.

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner (Intense Black)- I have bought this product several times, so I will keep my description brief.  I will not use any other liquid eyeliner.  This is the blackest, smoothest, most long wearing eyeliner on the market.  It is a beautiful little gem and my makeup collection is incomplete without it.

Maybelline Fit Me! Matte and Poreless Foundation (112)- Now that we’re getting into the warmer months, I really need to focus on which foundations I’m wearing.  My skin has a tendency to get oily in the t-zone all year round, but it’s definitely worse in the warmer months.  I have bought this foundation in the past and I’ve really enjoyed it.  This product gives medium coverage, but could be buildable to almost full coverage.  It also does a great job at staying in the matte to semi-matte end of the foundation spectrum.  Typically, I only need to repowder once halfway through the day while wearing this.  I would not recommend this for dry skin since it will cling to dry patches.

Stila Liquid Lipstick (Venezia)- This was a free gift at Ulta for purchasing my liquid liner.  I’ve only worn this once so far, and I definitely need wear it more.  This is the perfect fire truck wowie-zowie-that’s-intense red color.  This product goes on so smoothly and dries down to a perfect matte finish.  It was comfortable to wear and did not budge until my makeup wipe told it to at the end of the day.  I can’t wait to wear this more!

It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product- Ever since Ingrid Nilson talked about this product I have been in love with it.  After I wash my hair, I let it air dry for a bit before spraying this all over my hair.  It painlessly detangles my hair and leaves it feeling so soft and nourished once it’s dry.  I used the Keratin Plus version, which was nice, but there’s something I like better about the regular version.  I feel like it leaves my hair feeling softer and in better condition than the other version.  It takes me ages to use this product up, so even though it is a little pricey, it’s definitely worth it.

Maybelline Master Fix Setting Spray- I ran out of my Urban Decay setting spray a few weeks ago and I have been desperate to find something to replace it.  Although I love that product, it is expensive and I go through it very quickly.  I thought I would try this Master Fix as an alternative.  So far, so good!  It doesn’t keep my face as oil free as the UD spray, but it does lock my makeup in place nicely.  My one complaint about this product is the smell.  I can’t describe the scent well, but it is unusual and a little off putting.  You can’t smell it once the product dries which is why I have continued to use it.

Smith’s Rosebud Trio- Several years ago I bought the Minted Rose Lip Balm in the tin and I was so addicted to it.  I just didn’t love that it was in a tin and I had to dip my finger into it.  Once I saw this adorable little pack, I knew I needed to grab it.  It has three lip balms with different scents, including the minted rose.  I love the formula of all three of these.  It’s thick and moisturizing, but not so thick that I feel like I can only wear it at night.  When I’m having a “no makeup” makeup day I will slap this on my lips and call it a day.  The fact that it’s in the tube is perfect for clean on the go application.

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge- Buying the beauty blender a few months ago has changed my foundation game.  I feel like no matter when I use it, my base looks flawless.  I wasn’t sure what the fuss was about when it came to the Real Techniques sponge when I first heard about it.  So it’s got a flat edge, what does that matter?  Let me tell you, it does matter.  The flat edge seamlessly blends foundation into my skin while the pointed end gives me precise application.  I also feel like this sponge is a little softer and bouncier than the beauty blender.  I’m so sorry I doubted you, my little orange beauty.  I promise I won’t ever again.

Estee Lauder Modern Muse- Okay, so there’s a bit of a back story with this one.  Back in 2012, I was in Paris shopping in Zara.  (Take me back, plz)  There was this amazing perfume they had which I bought and wore that entire trip.  Much to my dismay, it has long been discontinued.  I am coming to the end of my bottle and I desperately wanted to find something that smelled similar to replace it.  After searching for a ridiculous amount of time, I finally found this product which is pretty darn close.  This has a refreshing floral scent with woody and slight musky notes.  Like its Zara counterpart, I have been wearing it non-stop.  It’s such a gorgeous perfume and I would highly recommend giving it a sniff next time you see a bottle.

And there you have it!  Have you picked anything up recently?  Anything I need to try?  Leave me a comment and let me know!

Until next time,

Rachel
